Softball - pre-season pitching clinic! Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 December 2014 16:25

Winnipeg Southwest Youth Softball League

is pleased to offer the following pre-season pitching clinic for ALL

clubs and ALL age categories (U10 to U18):

Saturdays @ 10, 11 or 12.

January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 11

and 18.

Session 1: Beginner (New to pitching) 10:00-11:00 am

Session 2: Intermediate (Under 2 years pitching) 11:00-12:00pm

Session 3: Advanced (2 years + experience) 12:00-1:00pm

• All sessions are at Bairdmore Elementary School at 700 Bairdmore Blvd.

The goal of the tiered sessions is so most beginners are together and most advanced

pitchers are together. This helps the instructors provide more consistent and

personalized attention since most of the girls are at a similar skill level. Your child can

switch sessions when other commitments conflict, but, we would like to have

kids at a similar level together where possible. WSWYSA reserves the right to

move children to balance class sizes where appropriate.

Registration - $140 per participant

Registration Deadline: January 10th, 2015 (Registration is on a First Come, First

Serve Basis and Classes Fill Quickly!!)

The clinic is run by the community clubs within the Winnipeg Southwest League, and

will be taught by a MSA certified pitching clinician. They will provide instruction on

windmill pitching techniques. Whether or not your daughter is 100% confident that she

wants to pitch, this clinic is a great opportunity to have your daughter playing ball and

learning the skill of pitching. Pitchers should arrive prepared to learn and have a glove,

indoor runners, loose fitting clothing and water. Parents will act as catchers or are to

provide a catcher for the pitcher. We will provide indoor balls.

REGISTRATION - Please send the following registration information to Lionel Johnston

Payment can be made by cheque (written out to WSWYSA) and dropped off or mailed

to 72 Allendale Drive, Wpg, R3T 5B8. Please email Lionel if you are mailing your

registration. CANCELLATION POLICY – NO REFUNDS AFTER January 11th, 2015.

After more than a year of discussions and meetings the South Winnipeg Community Centre Board of Directors has been established and will oversee and provide direction to the Richmond Kings and Waverley Heights Community Centres.

On Monday, November 17th the Board of Directors of both the Waverley Heights Community Centre and Richmond Kings Community Centre were officially dissolved and the new South Winnipeg Community Centre interim Board of Directors appointed at a meeting with officials from General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres.

The goal of the amalgamation is to provide the opportunity to maximize our current resources for the benefit of our collective communities.  The new South Winnipeg Community Centre Board will: improve functionality of our Centres; reduce duplication of effort, resources and volunteers; reduce operating costs; and allow us to expand our current program structure.

In addition we expect to: develop new program activities; improve the delivery of the services that are provided; and improve existing, and develop new, partnerships within the community.

We have a strong, community-minded, dedicated, volunteer Board of Directors and a solid staff that are committed to meeting the needs of our growing community.

Over the coming months we will be developing a new website and newsletter to share information and engage with residents. In addition we will be looking for people interested in increasing their involvement and providing feedback on the needs of the community.

This is an exciting time for the South Winnipeg Community Centre and with your support we can be one of the most prominent Centres in Winnipeg.
