2012 Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) Spring League Information 

GENERAL LEAGUE INFORMATION 

Waverley Heights Community Centre (WHCC) basketball teams will be playing in the Community Club Basketball League (Club Basketball) being offered by the WMBA. The WMBA also offers a Rising Stars League. Rising stars athletes may not play on a WMBA Community Club team during the same season. Players are only permitted to play on one WMBA team at a time. The WMBA is a not-for-profit community club based basketball league located in Winnipeg. The WMBA has a website (www.wmba.ca) which contains a wide variety of information about the season and the program. The Spring League is open to boys & girls ages 8-18 and runs from mid-April through to the end of June. 

GAME DAYS & AGE DIVISIONS 

The Spring League Community Club teams will be separated into the following age divisions. 

Saturday Games * (games can range from 9 am - 6 pm)8-9 Girls, 8 Boys, 9 Boys, 10 Girls, 10 Boys, 11 Girls, 11 Boys (note: age divisions subject to change) 

Sunday Games * (games can range from 9 am to 6 pm)12 Girls, 12 Boys, 13 Boys, 14 Boys, 13-14 Girls, 15-18 Girls, 15 Boys, 16-18 Boys (note: age divisions subject to change) 

* all teams will also practice once during the weeknights over the course of the program

Eligible ages for Spring 2012 include:

•  Born in 2005 (age 7) - would play in the 8 year old division
•  Born in 2004 (age 8)
• Born in 2003 (age 9)
• Born in 2002 (age 10)
• Born in 2001 (age 11)
• Born in 2000 (age 12)
• Born in 1999 (age 13)
• Born in 1998 (age 14)
• Born in 1997 (age 15)
• Born in 1996 (age 16)
• Born in 1995 (age 17)
• Born in 1994 (age 18) 

PROGRAM TIMELINES & OTHER INFORMATION 

The spring league will run mid-April through until the end of June (no club games on the May-Long Weekend or Basketball MB Club Championships) 

Club teams will participate in 8 regular season games plus a 2-game playoff. 

Teams will also be practicing once per week during the weeknights at an area school. The practice times will not be available until the coaches and gym times have been assigned. Practice times range from Monday to Friday, 6-10 pm. 

Games run one hour in length. 

Coaches and volunteers are always needed to help with the program - speak with your Basketball Convenor at registration. 

Participants need to wear runners with non-marking soles and shorts with no pockets or belt loops.

One jersey will be supplied by WHCC for the duration of the season. This jersey needs to be returned to the coach at the last game of the season. There is a $40.00 fee for non-returned jerseys.

Full refunds of Club Basketball fees will only be granted prior to the WMBA league meeting in late March 2012.

As per WHCC policy, refunds will be subject to a 25% administration fee; the refund will be further prorated based on the date of withdrawal.

SPRING 2012 THE WHCC BASKETBALL REGISTRATION FEE PER PLAYER IS: $130.00

(i.e., balls, jerseys, ball bags, medical kits, etc), and coaching clinics/certification.
